House Earns All-America in Javelin

Senior Noel House earned All-America honors in the javelin by placing eighth at the NCAA Division III Championships.

Senior Noel House earned All-America honors in the javelin by placing eighth at the NCAA Division III Championships.

House began the competition by throwing a season-best 202-10 on his first attempt. He also topped the 200-foot mark on his third throw, landing at 200-1, and ended the prelims in seventh place.

All House needed to reach the podium was to not have the two finalists behind him beat his top mark. The Rowan thrower in eighth place did, eventually coming in fifth with a distance of 206-11, and the Franklin & Marshall thrower came close, hitting 200-3 on his fourth throw. But that was where he topped out, and House hung on to eighth place.

The event was very competitive, with the top nine all passing 200 feet and seven of the top nine recording season bests.

House is the fourth Mule to earn All-America honors in a field event, the second to do so in the javelin. All told, Muhlenberg has had 11 All-America performances at the NCAA Championships, all since 2003.

Graduate student John Reichenbach also competed on the first day of the NCAA meet, placing 18th in the long jump. He will compete in the high jump on the second day.
