Four Reach Podium at Track Regionals
The Muhlenberg track and field teams sent four athletes to the podium at the All-Atlantic Regional Championships.
Senior Noel House and graduate student John Reichenbach, who are likely headed to the Division III Championships, took first place in the high jump and javelin, respectively. Freshman David Seel placed fourth in the 800, while classmate Maya Richwine came in seventh in the 100 hurdles.
The Mule men placed seventh, their best ever at the regional meet, with 29 team points.
House won the javelin on his very first attempt with a distance of 198-6 that stood up as the best mark for the rest of the competition.
Reichenbach captured the high jump in a jump-off after both he and a Rowan jumper cleared 6-8 but failed three times at 6-9. The bar was set to 6-9¾, where Reichenbach was successful. In the long jump, Reichenbach had consecutive marks of 23-2½ to place fifth.
With a handful of last-chance meets remaining, House ranks 10th in Division III in the javelin, while Reichenbach is tied for third in the high jump and tied for 14th in the long jump. The top 22 declared individuals in each event earn invites to the national meet.
Seel capped an outstanding rookie season by running a huge personal best in the 800, crossing the finish line in 1:53.42. His previous best was 1:54.90. Seel's new time moved him into fifth place on the all-time performance list.
Richwine finished second in her heat with a time of 15.00 to nab the last qualifying spot in the hurdles. In the final, she ran 14.85, just two hundredths of a second off her best.
