Women's Basketball Downed at Washington
The Muhlenberg women's basketball team went cold in the middle two quarters and fell at Washington College, 62-45.
The Mules (11-4, 2-3) trailed only 16-14 after the first quarter but made just three field goals in the second and went into the locker room with an eight-point deficit.
A three-pointer by senior Rachel Saxton and a jumper by freshman Veronica Dawson in the first two minutes of the third quarter cut the gap to five, but those were the only two field goals Muhlenberg made in the period.
The defense did its part, and the Mules still trailed by only eight after Saxton hit a three on the first possession of the fourth quarter. The Shorewomen (8-6, 3-3) responded with a 10-3 run, however, to pull away.
Saxton finished with a season-high 19 points, going 5-of-8 from three-point range. Junior Katie McGrath (pictured above) recorded 8 points and 6 assists.
