Volleyball Wins on Late Rally
The Muhlenberg volleyball team finished with a 7-2 run to defeat Neumann in five sets.
The Mules (6-7) dropped the first set, won the next two and lost the fourth to go to a fifth set for a second straight match.
Neumann (6-11) led 10-8 in the decisive set before back-to-back kills by freshman Olivia Bruno and sophomore Kelliann Keogh tied the score.
Freshman Abigail Oswari served back-to-back aces to put Muhlenberg ahead for good, and Bruno combined with senior Esmae Oehler for a block to make it 13-10.
The Knights scored the next two points to close to within one, but kills by Oehler and Oswari (pictured above) closed out the Mules' second five-set win of the season.
Oehler recorded her second double-double of the season with match highs of 15 kills and 19 digs. Oswari reached double figures in kills for the first time in her career, with 10 in only 22 attempts.
Freshmen Maddy Budris (21) and Ansley Asche (19) combined for 40 assists. Asche added 10 digs for her first career double-double.
Sophomore Chloe Gaglione pulled up 12 digs and served 5 of Muhlenberg's 13 aces. She served the final eight points of the Mules' 25-14 win in the second set, with three coming on aces.
Junior Camila Leyes set a career high with 11 digs.
The Mules hadn't played consecutive five-set matches since the start of the 2019 season.
