Men's Basketball Suffers First Home Loss
The Muhlenberg men's basketball team went cold in the second half and suffered its first home loss of the season, 83-68 to Marymount.
The Mules (4-4) shot 65 percent from the field in the firsthalf, which ended in a 41-all tie, but was just 9-of-31 in the final 20 minutes.
Senior Giovanni Rubino scored a game-high 27 points, moving into 15th place on the program's all-time list with 1,283 for his career. Freshman Drew Buck added a career-high 11 points.
Neither team led by more than four points in a thrilling first half that featured eight ties and nine lead changes. The Saints (6-3), who won their conference title and played in the NCAA Tournament last year, scored with 25 seconds left in the half to send the teams into the locker rooms tied at 41.
A layup and three by Rubino early in the second half resulted in two more ties, the last at 46-all, but Marymount answered with an 11-2 run to go ahead for good.
Buck (pictured above) finished 4-for-4 from the field, including a pair of threes.
