After a highly successful Spring Break trip, the Muhlenberg softball team swept the Centennial Conference weekly honors.

Senior Sophia Cicchetti was named player of the week and junior Justine Bergara was named pitcher of the week.

Cicchetti hit .567 with 11 runs scored and 6 RBI to lead the Mules to a 7-1 record last week. She hit safely in all eight games, with four hits against Mississippi University for Women and three against both Maine-Presque Isle and Franciscan, finishing a double short of the cycle in the latter game. Cicchetti stole 11 bases without getting caught and added two doubles, a triple and a home run - an inside-the-park grand slam - for a slugging percentage of .800.

For the season, Cicchetti is third in the CC with a .479 batting average. She leads the league with 17 runs scored and is tied for the league lead (and tied for eighth in Division III) with 15 stolen bases. In just a little over one-and-a-quarter seasons, she is eighth in program history with 33 career stolen bases.

Bergara went 4-0 with a 0.33 ERA, allowing only one run in 21.1 innings, in five appearances. She allowed just 14 hits, holding opponents to a .184 average, while striking out 14. Bergara's pitching helped the Mules to a 10-game winning streak, including a school-record four consecutive shutouts.

Bergara leads the CC in both wins (6) and ERA (0.55). She has allowed only 4 runs in 38.1 innings this season.

Muhlenberg went 9-1 on its Spring Break trip to South Carolina and Maryland to return home with a 10-3 record.
