The Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team outscored Washington College 12-2 in the second half to pick up its first Centennial Conference win of the season, 17-10.

The Mules (4-7, 1-2) trailed 8-5 at halftime and 9-6 with four minutes left in the third quarter before a goal by freshman Chase Kusko opened the floodgates.

By the end of the quarter, Muhlenberg had a 11-9 lead, thanks to a flurry of four goals in the final 1:11 of the period. Freshman Daniel Friedel scored the first of the four goals, followed by junior Reed Thompson (0:47), freshman Jack Bill (0:12) and junior Matthew Hochegger (:01).

Key to the stunning outburst was the faceoff work of sophomore Michael Drago, who won the face after each of the first three goals. He finished 8-of-12 on faceoffs.

The Shoremen (3-7, 1-2) netted the first goal of the fourth quarter to cut the gap to 11-10 but would not score again. Muhlenberg reeled off the last six goals of the game, including back-to-back scores by senior Wyatt Malia and the first career goal for freshman Ryan Neal.

Malia finished with 4 goals for his 12th career hat trick, while senior Ryan May recorded a career-high 5 points on a pair of goals and 3 assists.

Kusko and Bill (pictured above) also scored two goals.

Sophomore Luke Schwartzberg led the defense with 6 ground balls, while junior Brendan Lavarra scooped up 5.
