Athletes Honored for Academics

Members of the men's cross country, football, men's golf, men's soccer, women's tennis, men's tennis, softball, women's track & field, men's track & field, volleyball and men's wrestling teams were recognized for their academic work at Muhlenberg's recent Honors Convocation ceremony.

Members of the men's cross country, football, men's golf, men's soccer, women's tennis, men's tennis, softball, women's track & field, men's track & field, volleyball and men's wrestling teams were recognized for their academic work at Muhlenberg's recent Honors Convocation ceremony.

The Mule athletes were honored in a wide range of fields of study, including business, computer science, history, mathematics and physics, and for extracurricular activities such as tutoring.

Honorees were as follows (pictured left to right above):

Josh Benson (men's tennis)
The Dr. Priscilla E. Howard Tutor Award
Awarded to a senior who has received the greatest number of outstanding peer evaluations and who exemplifies the philosophy of a peer tutoring program.


Nico Berlingeri (men's wrestling)
The Dr. Anthony J. Marino Jr. Award in Computing Science
Awarded to an outstanding rising junior or an outstanding rising senior computer science major.


Collin Boldt (men's wrestling)
The Dr. John and Ethel Shintay Scholarship
Awarded to a rising junior student with high academic standards who is pursuing a religion vocation or academic religious studies.


Erica Borbi (women's track & field)
The Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship
State Department-backed award that makes studying abroad more accessible and inclusive for American students.


Jamie Carfagna (softball)
The Carol Emhardt Kuntzleman Memorial Award
Awarded to a sophomore or junior young woman who exhibits zeal for excellence and a high level of participation that characterized the academic work and extracurricular activities of Carol Emhardt Kuntzleman.


Joshua Castro (football/men's track & field)
The Todd L. Romig Memorial Prize
Awarded to a junior who most exemplifies the true characteristics of the scholar athlete.


Alyssa Faville (volleyball)
The Senior Female Scholar Athlete of the Year
Awarded to an outstanding seniorĀ  female athlete who has achieved high athletic as well as academic standards.


Kety Gaidamashvili (women's tennis)
The Frederick E. Hanson Scholarship Award
Awarded to a student for study abroad. The criteria for selection includes not only above average academic ability and participation in extra-curricular campus activity, but also traits of personality that will enable the student to profit from foreign study and contribute to international understanding and friendship.


Noel House (men's track & field)
The Senior Male Scholar Athlete of the Year
Awarded to an outstanding seniorĀ male athlete who has achieved high athletic as well as academic standards.


Roy Hsu (men's tennis)
The Dr. Robert A. Boyer Prize
Awarded to a student who exemplifies the outstanding qualities of the late Dr. Robert Boyer, professor of physics, including sound scholarship, a genuine concern for others, adherence to high standards of ethical and moral principles and a deep commitment to the religious dimension of a liberal arts education.


Hayden Klein (men's cross country/track & field)
The Hyman-Goodman Award
Awarded to an outstanding junior in the history major whom the Department deems most worthy.


Julia Lennon (women's tennis)
The Espi Guinto Award
Awarded to a rising sophomore who shows superior writing potential in his/her scholastic field of endeavor.


Abraham McWilliams (men's soccer)
The Paul M. White '27 Business Award
Awarded to students who specialize in the broad retail field.


Charles Ohanian (men's cross country/track & field)
The Wesley S. Mitman Mathematical Prize
Awarded to a senior most outstanding in mathematics.


Ty Palmieri (men's golf)
The Reverend Dr. H. H. Bruning Gift Fund Prizes
Awarded to a junior and a senior whom the faculty deem most worthy.


Markus Vottero (men's cross country/track & field)
The Paul M. White '27 Business Award
Awarded to students who specialize in the broad retail field.
