Volleyball Faces Tough Competition

The Muhlenberg volleyball team dropped both ends of a home tri-match against two teams with a combined record of 31-6.

The Muhlenberg volleyball team dropped both ends of a home tri-match against two teams with a combined record of 31-6.

The Mules (7-10, 1-3) were swept by third-ranked Johns Hopkins and Stockton. In the middle match, Hopkins defeated Stockton in four sets.

Muhlenberg put in a strong effort against the Blue Jays in the first match. The Mules were within 21-19 late in the first set before falling, 25-20, and were within two, at 18-16, in the second set before Hopkins ran off five straight points. 

The Blue Jays opened the third set on a 9-1 run and closed out the match with a 25-15 win.

Junior Christina Marcin and senior Rachel Jacobs led the attack with 8 kills apiece, and freshman Megan Bagrosky pulled up a match-high 9 digs.

Muhlenberg fell behind early in each of the three sets against Stockton and could never get back into the match. Marcin again led the Mules with 8 kills in addition to recording her 500th career dig.
