Baseball Drops Season Finale
The Muhlenberg baseball team wrapped up its 2024 season with a 13-5 loss at DeSales.
The Mules scored two runs in the top of the first to take an early lead but could not hold down the Bulldogs, who scored in all but one of their turns at bat.
Among the seniors who played in their final game, Ryan Riccio went 2-for-4 and scored two runs, Nick Whelan (pictured above) was 2-for-4 with an RBI single, Jake Braet singled and drove in a run, Nick Belli reached base in three plate appearances and scored twice, Jonathan Toth turned an unassisted double play at third base, and Andrew DeLucia tossed a scoreless inning.
Another senior, pitcher Sam Kelstein, made his batting debut and drove in a run with a groundout.
Riccio finished the season with 55 hits - the ninth most in a season in program history - and a .357 batting average.
