The Muhlenberg men's lacrosse team battled eighth-ranked Dickinson in a sensational Centennial Conference semifinal game, falling 11-10.

The Mules (10-8) fell behind 3-0 in the first six minutes and rallied to tie the game at 5-5 in the second quarter. The Red Devils (15-2) scored the next two goals and the teams alternated the rest of the way.

Muhlenberg had several opportunities to tie the game in the second half, the last time when it took possession with less than a minute left, but Dickinson held on.

Gettysburg upset top-seeded Swarthmore, 13-12, in the other semifinal. Had the Mules defeated Dickinson, they would have hosted the CC championship game.

Junior Andrew Sellitto scored three goals on only four shots, and senior Wyatt Malia contributed two goals and an assist in his last game.

The Red Devils connected on three of their first seven shots, but goals by Malia and Sellitto brought Muhlenberg back to within a goal late in the first quarter.

It was 5-3 midway through the second quarter before goals by Sellitto and freshman Daniel Friedel just 22 seconds apart tied the score.

The defenses dominated in the second half after Dickinson took an 8-6 lead into the break.

The Mules held the Red Devils to just one goal in the third quarter. After a man-up goal by senior Jack Quinn made it 9-8 with 7:16 on the clock, though, Muhlenberg didn't score again in the period.

Junior Tyler Kitchen's second goal of the game, in transition off a pass from senior Ryan May, put the score at 10-9 with 9:13 left in the fourth, and Sellitto's third goal made it 11-10 with 2:55 to go.

Dickinson won the ensuing faceoff, but senior goalie Stephen Krug intercepted a pass the give the ball back to the Mules. After a Muhlenberg turnover, the defense forced a turnover at the other end, but the Mules could not get off a shot on their final possession.

Junior Brendan Lavarra led the defense with a career-high 6 caused turnovers, extending his school-record total for the season to 41. Sophomore Luke Schwartzberg picked up 5 ground balls, and senior Aidan Murphy added 3.

Freshman Jack Bill scored his 40th goal of the season, coming up one short of the school record for a season and helping Muhlenberg set a team record with 206 goals scored. May recorded 3 assists, becoming the third different Mule with at least 25 in a season.
