Cross Country Teams Run at Regional Site
The Muhlenberg cross country teams previewed the site of this year's NCAA Metro Regional meet by running in Stockton's Osprey Open.
The men finished in the top half of the field, placing 10th out of 20 teams, and the women came in 13th.
A pair of sophomores paced the men's team, with Marc Sebastian Montalvo and David Seel both placing in the top 50 out of 189 runners. Both ran career-best 8K times, 27:01.8 for Montalvo (pictured above left) and 27:23.0 for Seel. They were followed by junior Andrew Smolowitz and sophomore TJ Cook Jr., with junior David Ludwig rounding out the Mules' top five in his season debut.
For the first time in their career, junior Jem Berney (pictured above right) was the top finisher for the women's team, placing 47th out of 180 runners. Berney's time of 25:16.2 surpassed their previous 6K best of 27:00.7 by a wide margin. Senior Hadley DeVarennes and sophomore Maggie Holderith also were in the top 100, and sophomore Ava Lundy and junior Julia Tassone also ran in Muhlenberg's top five.
