The Muhlenberg volleyball team won the first set but dropped the next three, ending its season with a Senior Day loss to Dickinson.

Prior to the match, the Mules honored their four seniors - student coach Catherine Maguire and players Esmae Oehler, Brooke Shiver and Rachel Jacobs (pictured above with their families)

Muhlenberg would have clinched its third consecutive Centennial Conference playoff berth with a win, but instead the final spot went to Ursinus.

An incredible run of five consecutive service aces by sophomore Chloe Gaglione keyed a 7-0 run that gave Muhlenberg a 15-9 lead in the first set. The Red Devils (14-10, 4-6) closed to within one at 21-20 before a kill by freshman Olivia Bruno gave the Mules (10-13, 4-6) some breathing room. Muhlenberg eventually won the set, 25-21.

The Mules led 14-13 midway through the second set before Dickinson came back for a 25-20 win. The Red Devils built a big lead early in the third set and went on to win 25-16 to take a 2-1 lead in the match.

A 7-0 run that included kills by all three senior players and a service ace by sophomore Jenny Ryan gave Muhlenberg a 15-10 lead in the fourth set. The Mules were up 21-15 before Dickinson went on a run of its own. A kill by Bruno saved one match point, but a Red Devil kill ended the set at 25-23.

Oehler and Jacobs tied for the team lead with 11 kills apiece, while junior Christina Marcin finished with 10. Gaglione added 11 digs to her career-high 6 aces, and Ryan recorded 30 assists and 11 digs.
