Rubino Named to Second Team
Muhlenberg senior Giovanni Rubino was named to the All-Centennial Conference men's basketball second team.
The all-conference honor is the second straight for Rubino, who is the second-leading scorer in the CC at 17.5 points per game. He leads the CC and is tied for 22nd in Division III with his school-record free-throw percentage of .889. Rubino also led the Mules in field-goal percentage (.495, fourth in the CC) and was second in three-pointers (34) and assists (58) and third in steals (29).
Rubino had two 30-point games during the season, pouring in 32 against Swarthmore and 31 in the playoff tiebreaker game against Dickinson. He scored in double figures in all but four games in which he played, hitting the 20-point mark 10 times.
In three years, Rubino has scored 1154 points for the Mules, reaching the 1000-point milestone in a win at Ursinus in January. His career free-throw percentage of .871 ranks 16th among active Division III players and would shatter the previous school record of .831.
