The Muhlenberg men's soccer team began the 2024 season with a scoreless tie against Alvernia.

The Mules played a man up for the majority of the match after the Golden Wolves were issued a red card in the 10th minute. Muhlenberg dominated possession for the rest of the game and had a 10-0 advantage in corner kicks in the second half but could not solve Alvernia's first-team all-conference goalie, who made several spectacular saves.

The game matched two teams who won 13 games last season and have combined to capture three of the last four ECAC championships, with Muhlenberg winning in 2019 and 2021 and Alvernia taking the title last year.
