Seven Earn Preseason Wrestling Rankings
Seven members of the Muhlenberg men's wrestling team earned regional and/or national preseason rankings from the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
The Mules recognized were (pictured left to right above):
• Anson Dewar (174 pounds) - third in Region 3 and 15th in Division III
• Frank DiEsso (133) - second in Region 3 and 12th in Division III
• Joey Lamparelli (125) - second in Region 3 and eighth in Division III
• Andrew Loniewski (141) - first in Region 3
• Brandon Bowles (157) - fifth in Region 3 and 15th in Division III
• Ryan Fairchild (184) - fifth in Region 3
• Paul Parise (197) - sixth in Region 3
Dewar missed most of the 2023-24 season with an injury but was an All-American in 2023, placing eighth at the NCAA Championships. He enters the 2024-25 campaign with a career record of 69-17, including 25 pins.
DiEsso had a breakthrough season last winter, capturing the Centennial Conference title at 133 and placing fourth at the NCAA Mideast Regional, missing a bid to national by one spot. He has a career record of 43-24 and led the Mules in major decisions last year.
Lamparelli is a two-time national qualifier and two-time CC champion, earning All-America honors in 2023. He has placed first or second in 10 tournaments during his career and has a record of 81-23, including 16 technical falls (second in program history).
Loniewski had a sensational rookie season, going 27-9 to lead Muhlenberg in wins. He was the runner-up at the CC Championships and came within one win of earning a trip to nationals.
Bowles, who did not compete last year due to injury, was one of the top 157-pounders in Division III two seasons ago, going 31-5 with 10 major decisions and 6 pins. He qualified for nationals in each of his first two seasons and was the CC champion as a sophomore.
Fairchild was the CC runner-up last year, when he went 21-10 and was ranked as high as fourth in the region. He brings a record of 41-25 into his junior season, with more than half of his wins (21) coming by fall.
Parise placed in four tournaments during a junior season that was highlighted by a dramatic last-second win against a nationally ranked opponent from McDaniel. His career record of 42-41 includes 16 pins.
The Mules are scheduled to open their season this weekend with a tournament at Alvernia.
