Academic Honors for Men's Wrestling
The Muhlenberg men's wrestling team and five of its members were recognized for academic achievement by the National Wrestling Coaches Association.
Sophomore Ryan Fairchild, junior Fletcher Goodman, freshmen CJ Horvath and Andrew Loniewski and junior Brian McCaw (pictured above, left to right) were named Division III Scholar All-Americans.
In order to receive NWCA Scholar All-American honors, a wrestler must have a GPA of 3.2 or greater for the previous academic year or have a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or greater. If a freshman, their GPA from the fall of 2023 must be above 3.2. Wrestlers must also meet at least one of the following wrestling criteria: NCAA qualifier with a winning record; finish in the top six at the NCAA regional while competing in at least half of the team's scheduled competitions and compiling a winning record; or win at least 67% of his matches while competing in at least 50% of his team's scheduled competitions.
Fairchild, a public health major and the Centennial Conference runner-up at 184, finished with a 21-10 record. Goodman, a double major in business administration and finance, went 14-7 and placed in three tournaments. Horvath was 18-6 and placed in five tournaments, while Loniewski, the CC runner-up at 141, led the team in wins with a 27-9 record. A double major in finance and accounting, McCaw compiled a record of 21-10 and placed in five tournaments.
Additionally, the team recorded the 24th-highest GPA in Division III, compiling an impressive 3.526 mark.
The Mules experienced success on the mat as well this past winter, going 9-3 in dual meets and placing third at the CC Championships.
