Postcards from Abroad: Caitlin Bestrycki

Women's lacrosse player Rebecca McCurdy writes about her experience studying in Florence, Italy, this semester.

Being a committed member of a team doesn't prevent Muhlenberg athletes from enjoying the same transformative experiences that their fellow students do - like studying abroad. Every semester, a good number of Mules travel overseas, and we catch up with them in our Postcards from Abroad series.  Our latest "foreign correspondent" is women's tennis junior Caitlin Bestrycki, a psychology major and neuroscience minor who is studying in Limerick, Ireland. Here's what she had to say about her experience:

What made you decide to study abroad?
I decided to go abroad to explore some of the world around me and learn a little more about my heritage.

What has been your favorite part about studying abroad?
My favorite part about studying abroad is exploring different places with the friends I've made.

What is something you have learned about yourself while studying abroad?
This experience has allowed me to grow as a person.

What advice would you give to someone thinking about studying abroad?
If you're thinking of going abroad, my advice would be to just sign up and pick somewhere you really want to go!

My favorite class while abroad has been Psychology of Personality.

What has been the favorite place you've visited?
The favorite place I've visited is the Cliffs of Moher.

How have you kept up with your sport while abroad?
While abroad I've been able to help prepare myself for the upcoming tennis season by focusing on my fitness. Alongside this, I've met a fellow tennis player from the States who I occasionally hit with.

What is one thing you miss about Muhlenberg?
One thing I miss about Muhlenberg is the friends I've made there.
