Late Goal Lifts Men's Soccer to Tie

The Muhlenberg men's soccer team scored with 5:26 remaining in the second half for a 1-1 Senior Day tie with Ursinus.

The Muhlenberg men's soccer team scored with 5:26 remaining in the second half for a 1-1 Senior Day tie with Ursinus.

Prior to the game, the Mules honored their nine seniors - Abraham McWilliams, Noah Pietila, Jason Edelstein, Evan Schlotterbeck, Kevin Adams, Aidan Niggeman, Ethan Beyer, Wyatt Intrator and Jake Mendelson (pictured left to right above with their families).

Despite a huge advantage in shots, Muhlenberg could not finish and found itself in a 1-0 hole when the Bears (6-5-2, 0-5-1) scored off a throw with just under 21 minutes left in the game.

The Mules (8-3-4, 2-1-3) finally found the equalizer off a throw of their own. Sophomore Sam Roberts took the throw, and it went off the head of Adams to the head of junior Sim Dorsey, who drove it into the back of the net for his third goal of the season.

Muhlenberg pushed hard for the winner, forcing an Ursinus back to save a ball for the third time in the game, but had to settle for the draw.

The tie left the Mules in fifth place in the Centennial Conference with three games left in the regular season, two of them on the road against regionally ranked opponents Swarthmore and Washington College.
