Short Honored Again
For the third time this season, sophomore Christopher Short was named Centennial Conference football special teams player of the week.
Short returned a kickoff 83 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter of the Mules' 58-42 win against Gettysburg, shifting the momentum after the Bullets had scored back-to-back touchdowns to cut a 16-point deficit to two. It was the second kickoff return TD for Short, who is the fourth Muhlenberg player (the first since 2016) with multiple kick return TDs in a season. He also returned the opening kickoff of the game 28 yards to set up a short field for the Mules' first touchdown.
Short is averaging 27.7 yards on 25 kickoff returns this season. His total of 693 yards on kickoff returns is the second-most in a season in program history and leads not only Division III, but all of NCAA football. Short is one of 16 players in the NCAA's four divisions to have more than one kickoff return for a touchdown this season.
