Postcards from Abroad: Grace Hoffman
Junior Grace Hoffman, a media and communication major and member of the Muhlenberg women's soccer team, is currently studying in Dublin. Here is what she had to say about her experience so far.
What has been your favorite part about studying abroad?
My favorite part about studying abroad has been exploring new places and learning more about Irish culture.
What made you decide to study abroad?
I've always wanted to study abroad since I love traveling and seeing new places. I decided to study with the media and communication program in Ireland because it seemed like a great balance of academics and free time to travel, as well as the internship program allows me to get hands-on experience at an art gallery.
What is something you have learned about yourself while studying abroad?
I've learned that I get along well with a lot of different kinds of people. I have gotten really close with the group I am studying with here and probably wouldn't have at 'Berg.
What classes are you taking?
I am taking Analyzing Visual Media Texts and Psychology, Media, and Creativity at Dublin City University. I also took Contemporary European Cinema with Professor McEwan, which is accompanied by the internship program.
How have you kept up with your sport while abroad?
I have not played soccer here, but I have been working out consistently.
What has been the favorite place you have visited?
My favorite place I've visited is probably Howth, Ireland. It is a small town on the coast with a beautiful cliff walk.
What is one thing you miss most about Muhlenberg?
I miss the people the most at Muhlenberg. Although I have made some great friends here in my program, I do miss spending time with my teammates and roommates.
