The Muhlenberg women's soccer team has named four captains for the 2024 season.

Selected to lead the Mules are (pictured left to right above) senior Eliana Nelson-Levy, senior Sara Pecorelli, graduate student Bri Astbury and senior Jocelyn Mertz.

Nelson-Levy is in her third season at Muhlenberg and has played primarily in the back. She appeared in a total of 17 games in 2022 and 2023, starting six. Nelson-Levy contributed to the offense with two goals on only three shots as a sophomore.

Although she will be a field player this season, Pecorelli has been a constant in goal for the past three seasons, starting 47 of the Mules' 51 games and recording 9 shutouts. She led the Centennial Conference in saves twice and ranks sixth in program history with 238 career saves.

Astbury is in her second straight season as a team captain. One of only two players to appear in all 51 Muhlenberg games since 2021, Astbury has started 47 games as a central midfielder. She has a career total of 5 points, including a game-winning goal vs. Catholic in 2022 and a pair of assists last year.

Mertz enters the 2024 season with a streak of 28 consecutive starts as a back. She was the only player on the team to start all 17 games last season. Mertz also scored a late goal on a long shot to give the Mules a 2-1 win at Bryn Mawr in 2022.

Muhlenberg is scheduled to open up its 2024 season at Elizabethtown on Friday, August 30.
