Field Hockey Notches First CC Win
A goal late in the first quarter gave the Muhlenberg field hockey team its first Centennial Conference win of the season, 1-0 at McDaniel.
In the final minute of the first period, junior Abba Diglio was pushed inside the circle, winning a penalty corner. Off the insertion, junior Erin DiSandro and senior Mikayla DeMichele worked a give-and-go, with DiSandro taking a shot that was deflected in by Diglio.
It was the 10th goal of the season for Diglio, who became the first Mule to reach double figures in goal in back-to-back seasons since Kayleigh Thies in 2013 and 2014. DiSandro moved into sole possession of second place on the program's all-time list with her 18th career assist.
Despite not adding a second goal, Muhlenberg finished with a 15-1 advantage in shots. The Mules' best opportunity to score came in the fourth quarter, when junior Lily Botta (pictured above) took a shot that got past the goalie and was saved by a Green Terror back.
