Postcards from Abroad: Jack Patti

Junior Jack Patti (wrestling/lacrosse) writes back from Barcelona, Spain.

Junior Jack Patti, who majors in computer science and is a member of the Muhlenberg men's wrestling and men's lacrosse teams, is studying in Barcelona, Spain, this semester. Here is what he had to say about his experience so far.

What has been your favorite part about studying abroad?

Being able to step away from a hectic lifestyle and immerse myself in an entirely different culture has been extremely rewarding. The best part has got to be the food.

What made you decide to study abroad?

It's been my dream to travel since I was a little kid and when the opportunity arose, I had to take it.

What is something you have learned about yourself while studying abroad?

I've been teaching myself to slow down and appreciate every moment. Life is fast paced enough and being on this trip has allowed me to unwind and look at some aspects of life through a different lens.

What is your favorite class?

I've been fortunate enough to learn a great deal of International Business which I hope will translate down the road.

How have you kept up with your sport while abroad?

Every country treats sports differently so I've had to adapt in keeping myself prepped for athletics. Experimenting with different ways of training has definitely been a challenge, yet fun.

Have you been able to travel elsewhere? If so, what has been your favorite place you have visited?

Hands down my favorite was reuniting with my buddies at Oktoberfest in Munich. As a group we aren't exposed to such large scale scenes at Muhlenberg so being able to get together and catch up at such an event was something I'll never forget.

What is one thing you miss most about Muhlenberg?

[Director of Strength and Conditioning] Darin Thomas for sure. Nothing like waking up and seeing his smile first thing in the morning.
