10 Earn All-Region; Reichenbach Wins Major Award
Muhlenberg graduate student John Reichenbach was selected Metro Region field athlete of the year for the outdoor season by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
Reichenbach also was one of a record 10 Mules on both the men's and women's teams to be named to the All-Metro Region team. Top-5 individuals in each event from each region earned all-region honors, in addition to each of the members of a top-3 ranked relay team, based on performances in the regular season.
Muhlenberg athletes to earn all-region recognition were as follows, with their regional rank in parentheses:
Joshua Castro, 400 (fourth) and 4x400 relay (third)
Dylan DeMagistris, hammer (first)
Faith Fezenko, hammer (fourth)
Noel House, javelin (third)
Avery McNulty, high jump (second)
Raam Ravishankar, 4x400 relay (third)
Reichenbach, high jump (first) and long jump (first)
Maya Richwine, 100 hurdles (fifth)
David Seel, 800 (fourth) and 4x400 relay (third)
Christopher Short, 4x400 relay (third)
Reichenbach is the third member of the Muhlenberg's men's team to earn top regional honors, following Will Elson (2003) and John Brodowski (2005). He won the Centennial Conference titles in both the high jump and long jump and was named Most Outstanding Performer for field events at the CC meet as well as CC field athlete of the year.
Reichenbach and House, also a CC gold medalist, are ending their seasons at the NCAA Championships in Myrtle Beach this week.
Among the other all-region honorees, DeMagistris, Fezenko and McNulty all won gold medals at the CC meet, while Seel earned a silver in the 800 and the 4x400 relay claimed a bronze.
