Men's Basketball Drops League Opener
The Muhlenberg men's basketball team went cold from the field in the second half and dropped its Centennial Conference opener to Haverford, 81-71.
The Mules (7-6, 0-1) shot 47 percent from the field in the first half, overcoming an early 7-0 deficit to take a 43-35 lead into the locker room.
In the second half, though, Muhlenberg made only nine field goals, going seven minutes without one in one stretch as the Fords (4-9, 1-0) went on a 12-0 run to take command of the game.
The Mules were within six points in the final minute, but Haverford went 8-for-8 from the line to put the game away.
Sophomore Peter Stanton-Shepherd led four Muhlenberg players in double figures with 16 points. Freshmen Drew Buck and Arinze Achufusi (pictured above) added 13 and 12, respectively, with Buck pulling down a career-high 7 rebounds.
Senior Giovanni Rubino finished with 12 points and 5 assists.
