Women's Basketball Extends Streak to Seven
The Muhlenberg women's basketball team rode a strong first half to its seventh straight win, 55-51 at Misericordia.
The Mules (7-1) forced 16 turnovers in the first half and made four of their first seven three-point attempts, including three in a row in a span of a little more than a minute. They led 35-19 at the half.
Muhlenberg maintained a double-digit lead until midway through the fourth quarter, when the Cougars (2-5) made a run. A three-point play with 47 seconds remaining cut the spread to two, at 53-51.
On the next possession, junior Katie McGrath drove the lane and kicked it out to senior Ava Connolly, whose corner jumper from just inside the three-point line effectively sealed the win.
Connolly (pictured above) finished with 15 points, 7 rebounds and 5 assists, while McGrath contributed 12 points, 5 assists and 4 steals. The two combined for only one turnover in 69 minutes.
Sophomore Lyndsey Costigan scored 10 of her 12 points in the first half. Senior Emily Unger pulled down a career-high 10 rebounds.
