Cicchetti Named to All-Region First Team
Muhlenberg senior Sophia Cicchetti was named to the All-Region V first team by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.
Cicchetti is just the third Mule to earn first-team all-region honors since 2000, and the first since 2012.
The Centennial Conference player of the year, Cicchetti hit .452 in 2024 with two home runs and 19 RBI. She led the CC in hits (66), runs scored (52), triples (7), slugging percentage (.637) and stolen bases (a league-record 47).
Cicchetti ranks sixth in Division III in stolen bases and is one of only two players in the NCAA (all three divisions) to have stolen at least 45 bases without getting caught. In fact, she was never caught in her career, going a perfect 65-for-65 on steals. Cicchetti also is in the top 20 in Division III in hits (13th) and triples (17th).
During the season, Cicchetti broke school records for triples in a career (14) and hits, runs scored and stolen bases in a season. She also tied a school record with a 26-game hitting streak. Cicchetti finished her two-year career at Muhlenberg second all-time with a .436 batting average, third with a .629 slugging percentage, fifth with a .502 on-base percentage, third with 65 steals and eighth with 88 runs scored.
Muhlenberg finished the 2024 campaign with a 26-16 record, tying for the second-most wins in a season in program history. Picked sixth in the preseason poll, the Mules finished fourth in the regular season and reached the championship round of the CC playoffs. Along the way, they set school records for hits (371), triples (16) and stolen bases (107) in a season.
