Four Earn All-CC in Softball

Four Muhlenberg players were recognized on the All-Centennial Conference softball team.

Four Muhlenberg players were recognized on the All-Centennial Conference softball team.

Heading the quartet is senior outfielder Sophia Cicchetti, who was named player of the year. Joining her on the first team was junior second base Kaya Mahy, while junior pitcher Justine Bergara and sophomore outfielder Scooter Hulsen received honorable mention.

Cicchetti, who earned first-team honors for the second straight season, is the first Mule to be named player of the year since 2012 and the second member of her family to earn a major CC postseason award. Her sister Genna Cicchetti was the CC Gold Glove of the year in 2019 and 2021.

Cicchetti hit .452 in 2024 and leads the CC in hits (66), runs scored (52), triples (7), slugging percentage (.637) and stolen bases (a league-record 47). In CC games, she hit a league-leading .491 with an .800 slugging percentage and 1.341 OPS.

During the season, Cicchetti broke school records for triples in a career (14) and hits, runs scored and stolen bases in a season. She also tied a school record with a 26-game hitting streak. Cicchetti finished her two-year career at Muhlenberg second all-time with a .436 batting average, third with a .629 slugging percentage and fifth with a .502 on-base percentage.

Mahy earned her first all-conference recognition after a breakout season in which she hit .359 and leads the CC with 6 home runs, 39 RBI and 19 extra-base hits. She ranks fourth in the CC with a .625 slugging percentage to go along with 13 stolen bases.

Mahy's 39 RBI, including a school-record-tying 7 in one game vs. Moravian, were the fourth-most in a season in program history. She hit a pair of home runs and knocked in 7 runs in the postseason.

Bergara emerged as one of the top pitchers in the CC, going 14-6 with a 2.05 ERA. She ranks third in the league in ERA and strikeouts (80) and is tied for the league lead in wins. Bergara completed five of her 20 starts, including a seven-inning no-hitter against King's.

Hulsen hit .319 and ranks second in the CC with 37 RBI. She was second on the Mules with 15 stolen bases and third with 44 hits.

Muhlenberg finished the 2024 campaign with a 26-16 record, tying for the second-most wins in a season in program history. Picked sixth in the preseason poll, the Mules finished fourth in the regular season and reached the championship round of the CC playoffs. Along the way, they set school records for hits (371), triples (16) and stolen bases (107) in a season.
