Reichenbach, House Earn Trip to Nationals
The Muhlenberg men's track & field team will be represented by two athletes at the Division III Championships.
Graduate student John Reichenbach and senior Noel House earned bids to the national meet, which is scheduled for May 23-25 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
Reichenbach qualified in both the long jump (Thursday, May 23, at 2:30) and the high jump (Friday, May 24, at 4:00). The Centennial Conference champion in both events, he is only the second Mule to qualify for the NCAA Championships in two open events in the same season, and the first to do so in two field events. Among the NCAA qualifiers, he is tied for third in the high jump and tied for 16th in the long jump. Reichenbach set school records in both jumps in his lone season as a Mule and was the Centennial Conference field athlete of the year.
House is making his second straight nationals appearance in the javelin, which is scheduled for Thursday, May 23, at 3:00. Last year, he finished 14th. House is the sixth Muhlenberg athlete to qualify for nationals more than one year in the same event, and of those six, three have been in the javelin. The Mules' seventh national qualifier in the javelin since 2013 and a three-time CC gold medalist, House is seeded 10th.
Muhlenberg has qualified at least one athlete for the NCAA Championships in track & field (men and women, indoor and outdoor) every year but three since 2001.
