6. Swarthmore - 43
7. Haverford - 35
8. Gettysburg - 30

The Mules have advanced to the CC semifinals each of the last two seasons, facing Johns Hopkins both times and winning the title in 2022. Last year, Muhlenberg went 5-2-2 in the CC to earn the fourth seed and went on to defeat Dickinson and top-seeded Franklin & Marshall in the CC playoffs.

The three teams ahead of the Mules in the preseason poll all won at least one game in the NCAA Tournament last year. Johns Hopkins and Franklin & Marshall both advanced to the second round before getting eliminated, while Washington College made it all the way to the "Final Four" before falling to eventual national champion St. Olaf. It was the sixth straight year that the CC sent at least three teams to the NCAA Tournament.

Muhlenberg went 13-4-2 overall in 2023, matching its most wins since 2014. The Mules are scheduled to open their season Friday night at home against Alvernia, with the CC opener slated for Friday, September 20, against Johns Hopkins in a rematch of the last two CC championship games.
