Men's Soccer Stays Unbeaten in CC

The Muhlenberg men's soccer team scored on back-to-back corner kicks in the second half to defeat Haverford, 2-0.

The Muhlenberg men's soccer team scored on back-to-back corner kicks in the second half to defeat Haverford, 2-0.

The Mules (6-2-2, 2-0-1) extended their unbeaten streak to five games and kept pace with the two other unbeaten teams in Centennial Conference play, Franklin & Marshall and Johns Hopkins.

Despite holding the Fords (1-6-4, 0-2-1) without a shot in the first half, Muhlenberg could not put the ball in the net and was locked in a scoreless draw with under 20 minutes to play in the game.

The Mules finally broke through off a corner kick by senior Evan Schlotterbeck in the 72nd minute. After pinging around the box, the ball came out past the far post, where sophomore Sam Roberts sent a cross on the ground back across the box, and Schlotterbeck slammed it home.

It was the second goal in as many games for Schlotterbeck, who had just one career goal coming into Saturday's win at sixth-ranked Dickinson.

About five minutes later, Muhlenberg won another corner, and Schlotterbeck's service was headed by junior Trevor Mikuta to freshman Thomas Shreiber, who knocked the ball into the net for his first career goal. Shreiber became the ninth different Mule to net a goal this season.

Senior Aidan Niggeman recorded a pair of late saves to post his third shutout.

Muhlenberg rolled up a 16-5 advantage in shots in defeating Haverford at home for the first time since 2014.
