Men's Basketball in Europe: Part 1

The first report from the Muhlenberg men's basketball trip to England and France.

The Muhlenberg men's basketball team is spending the end of May touring England and France. The trip is a trip abroad for most of the Mules but a trip home for rising senior Luke Gordos, who hails from Manchester. He is pictured above with his family and sent back this report on the team's first few days.

After flying out of Philadelphia to London, with a two-hour stop in Dublin, and arriving at our hotel, we got on the cable cars. From there we saw the view of the River Thames and the city of London from above.

We were then given free time to explore the O2 Arena, which was filled with restaurants of all different types of cuisine. Many of us either went bowling or sightseeing in the area with family.

The next day we woke up early for breakfast at the hotel before using the DLR train system to get to the University of East London SportsDock Gym.

We faced off against BTM Select, which was full of talented under-20 basketball players, with the majority either currently representing or have represented Great Britain at some point of their playing careers. The game ended 86-70 in favour of BTM Select as every one of the Mules played significant minutes.

We then enjoyed a meal from Zing's Place Caribbean Food with options being jerk chicken, beef curry or vegetarian curry.

The afternoon was comprised of an open-top sightseeing bus tour as we saw St. Paul's Cathedral, Buckingham Palace, the London Eye the Houses of Parliament and much more.

Afterwards players, coaches and family were free to explore London as they chose.
