Short Named Player of the Week
Muhlenberg sophomore Christopher Short was named Centennial Conference special teams player of the week.
With the Mules clinging to a 12-7 lead, Short returned the opening kickoff of the second half 100 yards for a touchdown for the turning point in the Mules' season-opening 33-7 win at Moravian. It was the third 100-yard kickoff return in Centennial history (first since 2014) and the fourth 100-yard kickoff return in Muhlenberg program history (first since 1977).
The long play came on Short's first touch as a college football player, and it was the first time a Mule returned the opening kickoff of the second half for a touchdown since 2016.
Muhlenberg moved up from No. 21, its preseason rank, to No. 18 in the first D3football.com poll of the regular season.
